Just off the 163 Freeway in Kearny Mesa, The Butcher Shop serves up steakhouse standards with a vintage touch. The interior takes inspiration from a classic Chicago-style steakhouse, with strong wooden accents and large red leather booths. They specialize in high-quality Mid-Western aged steaks, charbroiled over a mesquite wood-fire grill. The meats are USDA choice and prime cuts, a highlight of which is their slow-roasted and tenderly juicy Angus prime rib. Other standouts include the seven ounce filet mignon, which comes smothered with sautéed onions and mushrooms, and the 8-oz. New York steak. Even vegetarians can get in on the action at The Butcher Shop, with their renowned French onion soup, topped with gruyere and parmesan cheese.
