About Crudo by Pascal Lorange

World-renowned chef Pascal Lorange brings the flavors of the Mediterranean mixed with Japanese-inspired fusion to Crudo. The authentic food is simple in presentation, but bold in flavors from local ingredients. One of the many highlights is Crudo's three dipping sauces that accompany several dishes: kumquat ginger with cilantro and olive oil; five-spice harissa sauce; and aged balsamic vinegar with soy sauce and spices. Read on to learn about what makes up some other highlighted dishes:

Lunch

  • Pacific Highlands burger: tomatoes, pickles, romaine lettuce, swiss cheese, sun-dried tomatoes, pesto goat cheese; served with salad and fries
  • Vegetarian puff pastry pizza: grilled vegetables, tomato concasse, burrata mozzarella, herbs, basil-infused olive oil
  • Seared salmon salad: arugula, zucchini, fennel remoulade, avocado, tomatoes, scallions, lemon, red vadouvan curry dressing

Dinner

  • Coconut chilean sea bass: coconut milk, soy, carrots, pearl onions, spinach, cilantro, lime juice, mild bombay spice, rice
  • Smoked duck breast and foie gras roll: fig jam, caramelized mushrooms, tomatoes, scallions, onion marmalade, kumquat chutney
  • Mediterranean Crudo tasting: lobster ravioli, pumpkin and honey crisp apple, sage oil, crab cake, mango salsa, horseradish emulsion, cilantro, grilled chicken, orange fennel salad, roasted potatoes

The quality of the food was excellent. Our friends had the Paella and the Branzini. I had the Filet Mignon. The service, however, was very slow. Don't know if they were short-handed or what the problem was. There were only 3 - 4 tables of customers, and 2 -3 waitpersons.

Crudo is one of our favorite restaurants; however, the last visit was unsatisfactory. Crudo normally has excellent service and quality food, but we waited 20 minutes afte arriving before a waitress showed up (the restaurant was not crowded) and then service was rushed (entrees served before appetizers were finished). Cold entrees, overdone filet and over half the oysters had no meat - shell only.

Good and interesting place although my ordered the payaya on recommendation and she said the rice was more like out of the box rice mix than a chef quality.

The food was outstanding, but there was only one waitress for the entire restaurant, so the service suffered. There was no soap in the men's room and no seat covers in ladies. We told the waitress about the lack of soap, but she obviously didn't correct this. It was difficult to get the lone waitress's attention and had to get up to talk to her.
