About UTC Ice

Sharpened ice skates trace paths around La Jolla Ice Town's icy interiors, offering a wintry change of pace from the temperate San Diego climate. Open seven days a week for open skate, the sports center spruces up laps around the rink with a live DJ paired with disco lights every Friday and Saturday night.

Professional coaches also tutor skaters on elegant stops, turns, and crossovers during figure-skating classes and teach athletes to maneuver pucks during youth and adult hockey clinics. Additionally, family-friendly activities, such as birthday parties, broomball, hockey games, and an annual ice show, attract visitors and inspire them to transform a jacuzzi tub into a personal-size skating rink.

My son's 5th birthday a UTC ice was great. The party itself was easy to book and they send out clear details and evite to share with guests.

Severely "broken" ankle on teen was caused by laces on ice skates not tightened properly by him. He told the rental guys it is his first time and they didn't explain anything. Staff was not supportive when accident occurred on the ice and didn't write out a report. He cried in agonizing pain and no adult was helpful other than telling him to go home. With the help of his friends he was moved to parking lot where he was picked up by another parent then taken to hospital by his Mother. He is 15. He is old enough to go to the mall and skate with friends and watch a movie without a parent having to accompany teens. I am disappointed in how the accident was handled, kids on site said staff appeared uncaring and was certainly not taking the injury seriously.
