Surf Riders Shave Ice’s refreshing masterpieces start each morning with the freezing of the ice block. Made from pure, filtered water, the ice block is frozen at a specific temperature to facilitate a shave that is stable enough to hold syrup and thin enough to melt on the tongue. The shaved-ice masters also craft syrups each morning using Hawaiian cane sugar and creative flavors such as buttered popcorn, cake batter, and horchata, as well as classic flavors such as grape and cherry. In addition to the low-calorie, fluffy ice cones, they also hand dip vanilla, chocolate, or cookies ’n’ cream ice-cream bars into chocolate and roasted nuts or sprinkles.
Housed within a brightly colored truck, Surf Riders zooms through Los Angeles distributing shaved ice to parties and passers by. It also makes stops at fundraisers to help local schools, sports teams, and brain-freeze-prevention campaigns raise funds for their programs.
