La Quinta Restaurant, San Francisco

In fairness, La Quinta Restaurant may sound like it’s attached to a chain motel, but the sunny Mexican restaurant in the Mission actually ventures into far bolder terrain than even the busiest bedspread. The lemon and lime color scheme, map of Mexico and elaborate tile create a festive atmosphere to sit and enjoy a refreshing ensalada de frutus drink with a irresistible plate of huevos rancheros. Not so much a taqueria as a place for a slightly upscale yet traditional Mexican breakfast or lunch, La Quinta’s liquor license, inexplicable wall hangings and general welcoming atmosphere keeps it rocking until closing time.
