About The Plant Cafe Organic
Matthew Guelke knows first-hand that a clean-food diet can drastically improve one's health and stamina as well as one's spirit. That's why he founded The Plant Cafe Organic, where a naturally-lit, open dining space welcomes patrons to savor 100% organic fare. It focuses on contemporary California cuisine infused with Asian flavors—think avocado BLTs with aioli, acai berry smoothies, and spicy jalapeno udon. Check out The Plant Cafe Organic's formula for clean eating:
- Local Produce: The restaurant works directly with local farmers to acquire fresh, seasonal produce grown in the Bay Area—usually picked only days before being served and always free of GMOs, antibiotics, hormones, and synthetic chemicals.
- Ethical Ingredients: The restaurant sticks to organic, free-range poultry as well as wild, sustainable seafood. And because it buys strictly from local farmers, it ensures the smallest carbon footprint possible.
- An Inclusive Menu: In the kitchen, chefs make every menu item by scratch, crafting a diverse selection options for vegans and vegetarians as well as the carnivorous at heart. The vegan-friendly curry vegetable bowl, for instance, can be amped up with grilled chicken, shrimp, or salmon.

The Plant Cafe I had intended to use the Groupon for has permanently closed. I then tried to use it at the one on Montgomery and Pine in San Francisco and was told it was invalid. I finally used it at another one on Pine, but by then I had no time to really eat my food before I had to teach a Pilates class.
The food was nice, but I wish I could have enjoyed it in a more relaxed environment.
Even if it's a franchise, the Groupon should still be honored, otherwise it leaves a bad impression of the brand. The people at the last Plant Cafe I tried were super nice and I will return there only in future.

I went, I ate, enjoyed and went back for a smoothie. I'm as impressed by the quality and integrity of the food as much as I am with Plant Cafe's mission and goals. Worth giving a try.
