About Scottsdale Scuba

Scottsdale Scuba owner Rick Owens believes that no one's too busy to learn how to dive—with ultra-flexible class scheduling, he makes sure of it, having once gone as far as to hold classes at 2:30 a.m. to accommodate one group. Owens works with two other veteran divemasters to make sure students can get in the water whenever they have the time. All together, his team of teachers boasts about 100 years of combined experience, meaning they can embarrass away most sharks by threatening to reveal their baby photos.

The shop itself has been open since 1991, during which time instructors have kept adapting their teaching style to their students' needs. Alums are even invited to stop by dive sessions at Lake Pleasant for free refreshers on diving skills and new equipment.

This groupon was a rip off. It claims to include everything but the books and rental gear. however, that is extremely misleading. I already had the book from a previous class and was still required to buy one from them ($90), and already had the scuba equipment but was required to rent it from them ($70), plus another $50 for the card, $15 for lake rental fees. So it ended up being over $300 despite already having most of the materials.

I just got started but so far the main instructor, Rick, is very nice and helpful. He is definitely passionate about diving and excited to teach people and get people in the water with the proper preparations. Scottsdale Scuba works to accommodate your schedule and has several dives scheduled so you can plan for the future. So far very happy with my experience and so excited to get certified.
