About Serious Pie & Biscuit
The Three Faces of Serious Pie & Biscuit
Serious Biscuit
Serious Pie & Biscuit is made up of two not-quite-separate but equally delicious parts. In the morning and afternoon, Serious Biscuit—located on the ground floor—entices passersby with the scent of buttermilk biscuits wafting through the air. Sure, you can order these dense biscuits à la carte, but the more popular option is to indulge in what The Stranger calls “biscuit sandwiches as big as your face.” Choices include fried chicken with tabasco black-pepper gravy; fried green tomato, bacon, and egg; and the housemade peanut butter, honey, and ripe banana, to name a few.
Serious Pie
At 3 p.m., Serious Biscuit closes and its seating opens up for spillover from Serious Pie, located on the mezzanine level upstairs. Here, the chefs get serious about pizzas—wood-fired, artisanal pizzas made with seasonal ingredients. These aren’t your typical pepperoni or cheese pies. Instead, think toppings like sweet fennel sausage, caramelized leeks, truffle cheese, clams, and more. To sweeten the deal, Serious Pie offers a happy hour every weekday from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., during which you can grab a half-size pie for just $6.
Fully Stocked Bar
In addition to buttery biscuits and artisanal pizzas, Serious stocks its bar with 18 drafts, plus 50 beers in bottles and cans. Seasonal cocktails get inventive with choices like the Old Tom Foghorn, with Ransom Old Tom gin, lime, and ginger beer, or a black-pepper old-fashioned, made with Buffalo Trace bourbon, bitters, and black-pepper honey. Or you can pick from a short, refined list of red and white wines from Italy.
