When Ila Barlean promised herself she'd be in better shape at 30 than she was at 13, she set the bar pretty high. She was already an avid swimmer, eventually qualifying for the NCAA Nationals, coaching triathletes in Japan, and working as a fitness model for REI. But despite all this disciplined maintenance of her physique, Ila firmly believes the internal body needs as much attention as the external. That's why she founded Tao Energy Movement, where, in addition to leading yoga classes and personal-training sessions, she practices various energy services. Kundalini and meridian-line massage both focus on the healthy movement of qi throughout the body, integrating traditional massage with energy healing to bring holistic balance. Ila also believes in the importance of detoxification, which she executes through lymphatic drainage and encouraging clients not to eat batteries no matter the circumstances.
