At Heli Gunner, shooting takes place in the sky. Military-trained pilots take tourists and Texans alike up in a helicopter that quickly and efficiently reaches the shooting grounds. Then, passengers outfitted in special harnesses lean out of the helicopter's open sides and take their shot with company-provided rifles and ammo.
The aerial gunnery package passes over the custom range 4–5 times for each gunner on board, and even gives participants the opportunity to observe as a co-pilot. Participants can test their aim by shooting from various distances, altitudes, and speeds. This experience is especially good for the younger crowd: legal adults may use an AR, but 10- to 18-year-olds can rent paintball markers to splatter the targets with vibrant colors.
Additionally, the helicopter hog hunting package is part of the larger effort to tackle feral pigs in the area, which are responsible for destroying agricultural crops, damaging livestock facilities, and destabilizing wetlands; many farmers are quite happy to have these prolific breeders eradicated from their land. And since wild hogs aren't considered game and thus don't have bag limits, anyone with a hunting license can lend a helping hand to population-control efforts.
