York Street Café at The Strathcona Hotel, Toronto

The choice of snacks was quite poor. Slices of salami in the buffet were discoloured at the edges - obviously being several days old. Considering that there are plenty other restaurants in the area, I am definitely not going to come back.

The food is OK, enough variety for a basic, unpretentious breakfast: scrambled and poached eggs, bacon, potatoes, sausages...milk, yogurt, juice, toast, pastries, etc. The only issue I've had was with the fruits: not fresh, with the watermelon being sour.

Cafe is quite small. a wing off the lobby. Groupon bills it as $12 compared to the regular price of $20. Well the regular price actually $15. So only a small savings. Buffet quite small. Standard hotel breakfast of scrambled (from a mix?), poached egg, bacon,sausage, potatoes, baked beans, onions, and pancakes. White and brown bread and 2 kinds danishes. Diced pineapple, watermelon, honey dew, yogurt, cottage cheese and couple kinds cereal. Orange juice and cranberry cocktail and coffee included. Water available as waiter gestured in direction of the tap and sink. Not a huge buffet so all these items were easy to recite from memory. Staff kept replenishing the items. Taxes were additional $1.53. Left tip based on the original price of the buffet.

Good Service. Small variety of food. Hot food was not hot.
