Bonobo Winery, Traverse City

Growing up in Michigan wine country, brothers Todd and Carter Oosterhouse have always been comfortable in between the vines. So when they opened Bonobo Winery, they wanted their guests to feel just as at home. Todd and Carter opted to strip away the pretenses that usually surrounded the wine-making process, allowing guests to get up close and personal during their tours. They wanted the experience to be ultimately educational, with plenty of samples of wines made right on the property. Using only estate-grown grapes and produced on-site, the wines at Bonobo Winery include Chardonnays, Pinot Gris, Pinot Blancs, Rieslings, and many more. Despite its rustic hometown charm, however, the Bonobo Winery isn't without its prestige. Guests can get a taste of this on the Small Plates and Pairings tour, whose menu is curated by celebrity chef Mario Batali.
