Many of the same staff members at Brookside by Day have helped prepare and serve home-cooked favorites since the day the diner opened in 1991. That sense of tradition permeates every aspect of the restaurant, from the country decor of hardwood tables to the house specialties ranging from breakfast burritos to chicken-fried chicken. That's not to say the times can't change, however—along with the regular menu, chalkboard specials rotate daily, and in 2013 the diner added a bar where guests can watch the flat-screen TV over drinks or sip a Bloody Mary at brunch to cure their Sunday papercuts.
