The atmosphere was delightful, the prices are a bit high but the food was excellent, and the service was tremendous.

The food was very good and the servings were just the right size. The flavor was great and just as hot as ordered. The staff were wonderful.

Above all, the food was outstanding. So full of flavor and spice. We ordered both dishes hot and they certainly were! We ordered the Masala shrimp and the butter chicken as entrees, the beef naan for an appetizer, and pilau rice to accompany our entrees. The Masala shrimp was a little different than I have had in other Indian restaurants but the owner here also has an African influence so it had a different flair and was thoroughly enjoyed. The service was friendly and efficient. The ambiance was nice, dark red interior, nice lighting, not too noisy. I live in Seattle and I don't come to Victoria often but I would certainly not hesitate to come back!

Food was delicious, price was good but service was slow. But I would definitely recommend if not in a hurry.

Excellent service. My busser was especially well qualified as my water was never empty. I also appreciated how they build their curry from scratch so it caters to all diets. Best part was how they put the stems of the broccoli in my curry! You never see that at restaurants and I was very pleased about this! Would go back again!

While the food tasted good, it was disappointing to see the chef used frozen vegetables in the vegetable curry. We were also seated right beside the service entrance to the kitchen in an otherwise empty restaurant. Not terribly impressed.

From Our Editors

Meals at The Spice Jammer come to your table in one of four ways: mild, medium, hot, or extra hot. True to its name, the restaurant won't skimp on the spice in its East African-style Indian cuisine, but it can also accommodate guests with more sensitive palates or irrational grudges against turmeric.

The menu emphasizes home-style cooking methods, with chefs roasting meats in a traditional tandoori oven or simmering them in zesty gravies. Plates of prawns, chicken, and lamb follow openers of samosas or stuffed naan, and vegetarian curries pack equal amounts of flavour into meat-free morsels of spinach, peas, and potatoes.

Inside the dining room, the leafy fronds of tall, decorative plants offset the warmth of red and cream-coloured walls.
