About Color Me Mine

Named one of Parents magazine's Top 10 Birthday Chains in 2010, Color Me Mine's international franchise of DIY ceramics studios cater to an older crowd as well. Hundreds of unadorned ceramic pieces—including vases, mugs, and mermaids—await the attentions of muses of kids and their keepers alike, as do glazes in earthy tones and bright crimsons to frighten bulls away from china cabinets. Guests follow simple step-by-step instructions that leave plenty of room for creative expression. When painters are satisfied with their work, the professional kiln-workers help glaze and fire it for them before customers retrieve the finished piece a few days later.

I saw your groupon offer and thought this may be something that my grandson (who is 6) might enjoy doing. I am watching him for my daughter for the summer and I am trying to keep him busy with different things to do. I did go on your website before I purchased my groupon specials and you had a special for 1 visit or 6 visits--so I purchased the 6 (in case my daughter wanted to go with us), and I figured we could go 2 times. However, after me & my grandson went (using two of my six vouchers) for the first time, seeing how expensive you merchandise is I probably wont use the other four vouchers I purchased. I painted a dolphin and my grandson purchased a mug with a puppy on it and just those two items cost me $41.34. To me that is a little bit expensive especially since my grandson really lost interest in the whole experience within the first 5 minutes. I personally think that you should have a few items in your store that are not as expensive for your customers that are coming in for the first time or even for the customers that are under 8 years old. I am NOT the only one that thinks your merchandise is expensive as wen I was in there painting my dolphin two other ladies came in and when they were looking for their items to paint they made the comment that the merchandise was expensive . If you are NOT going to have any cheaper merchandise than you may want to show some of your merchandise on your website with the prices so that your customers wont be so shocked when they come in and actually see the prices. Had I not had the Groupon vouchers and told my grandson that I would take him that day, I probably would have left and talked him into doing something else when I saw the prices of the merchandise. I understand that you have some things for ONLY $12.00 but those items have a lot more detail than the ones that are a little more expensive. I paid a little bit more for the mug with the puppy on it because I knew that my grandson could probably paint that a lot easier than the small $12.00 dinosaur that he had picked out the first time as to me that looked too hard for the beginner and I knew if he tried to do that on his first visit he definitely would have gotten discouraged and quite sooner than what he actually did. As it was, he was pretty much over the whole experience within the first 5 minutes but I made him continue to paint on it a little more as I was still painting on my item. Hopefully, this is helpful to you. I am NOT a cheap person by any means and I am constantly purchasing things for my grandson to do but I figured that you might want to know that your customers think that the merchandise that you currently offer is a little on the expensive side so that maybe you can look around and try to find some merchandise that is a little cheaper. If you did this I believe you would see a lot more repeat customers. I used to own a small business myself for 10+ years and just this year had to shut it down due to becoming disabled but I definitely would have been grateful if my customers were honest so that I could try to correct my problems and get repeat customers. I personally feel word of mouth by your current customers is the best form of advertisement that you can get. Thank you for the experience anyway. Christine Weldon

go with at least 2.5 hours! you need time to pick out your piece and then figure out color scheme. also, a lot pricier than i thought. this only covers the studio fee, so really, you're just saying $10 and still paying a boatload for a pottery piece... made in thailand. :/

It helps to have an idea in mind or you will be there for 3-4 hours. We spent 3 1/2 hours there!
