If the White House, the Lincoln Memorial, and the Washington Monument love meeting new people, the team behind DC Trails is officially on the trio's good side. The company's double decker buses stop at all three landmarks, as well as 19 others, during hop-on, hop-off bus tours.

Riders hop off to see sites steeped in American history, but the reasons to hop on are compelling, too. The buses play live narration from expert guides, which helps riders contextualize what they're seeing, and avoid mistaking the White House for just another white house. That narration aids riders on other tours, too, whether they're taking an all-day tour of the city, or getting ferried across the Potomac River to Mount Vernon, George Washington's one-time home.
