This isn't as popular as the big museums on the Mall, but it's my favorite place to sit and get a break from the crowds. There are always interesting exhibits and the space itself is beautiful. The gift shop has some interesting finds and even when there's a big exhibit that draws a ton of people, there's usually some space to sit down on the higher floors.

The main lobby is a great place to hang out with large carpeted floors and an impressive fountain! I loved the exhibit they had on the second floor which showed small-scale architectural models of buildings and building proposals around the world in different climates and temperatures. The rotating exhibits also look really fun!

The National Building Museum is an interesting place to visit. The building itself is an architectural marvel - beautiful marble columns and gilded woodwork. I enjoyed the doll house exhibit and also the exhibit on landscape architecture. There are rooms upstairs where children can play with building blocks and have hands-on experiences. It seems to be geared to children and their parents. So a great place for grandma or grandpa to take the kids during the summer or on a weekend. I am in a manual wheelchair and there is a fully accessible entrance on one side of the building. Getting in and out of the rooms was also OK. The bathrooms also have accessibility. The staff were reasonably accommodating for my ADA service dog. A nice place to take the kids on a hot summer day - a place for them to run around, be active, learn something educational and just have fun.

Check before you go to make sure that the building's not closed for a special event! If you can, take the metro to go there as parking is VERY limited in the area.

The museum didn't make it clear that in order to get into the ball pit it was a full price entrance fee required so that the groupon was completely ineffective They did state that the groupon didn't cover the ball pit but didn't make it clear that you couldn't pay an additional fee to get in I was mislead into paying the groupon fee that was useless to me The actual museum didn't have much to offer for the full price they were charging The kids did enjoy the ball pit immensely I wish there was a way to get a refund from Groupon
