I love the fresh seafood selection. The fried oysters are to die for, I would love to come back but driving to DC is such a pain.

First of all, we knew it was a casual place but their website indicates the ground floor is carry out & the upstairs had a more open area with casual seating. We got to location & discovered their upstairs has been closed for months so we had to sit ground level. The place was so so. We got 2 Coronos that were ice cold so that was a plus, a 1/2 pound steamed shrimp that was very hot & tasty but a bit costly at $17 & decided on lobster rolls as our entries. The rolls come with fries. The lobster rolls were a bit skimpy & not bad but had better at Larry's Lobster that are full & Im from New England so I know lobster. The entire bill was $70 but with my Goupon it was $35. We will not return.

Great food. Great location to just pop off M Street for a quick and casual (but very good) meal. For some reason I thought there was an upstairs, but these tiny little locations are always the best! :) Will def go again

From Our Editors

The charm and simplicity of the Maine lobster shack is heaved ashore at Georgetown's Tackle Box, which popped onto Bon Appétit's radar as one of the Best Seafood Restaurants of 2008. Just inside the door on a pocked brick wall, a weathered Old Glory greets diners as they stand before the counter's chalkboard menu to check on the day's fresh catch and wonder if sailors wear their ties in a figure-eight knot. Since Tackle Box shoulders a steadfast commitment to sustainability, each meal can vary, as cooks fry or grill the bounty of fishermen's nets that may swell with haddock or catfish.

Diners can choose smoked trout to pair with hand-cut fries or mac 'n' cheese, all of which they can enjoy at a fire-red picnic table. For an extra kick, fingers may dip fare or put out a burning dynamite fuse in a classic tartar or spicy marinara sauce.
