About Dionysos Restaurant
It's a pretty good testament to a restaurant's ability to prepare Cypriot food when the president of Cyprus decides to dine there. That's exactly what happened at Dionysos in 2015, when President Nicos Anastasiades stopped in for dinner. In an Astoria filled to the brim with Mediterranean restaurants, Dionysos stands out thanks to its traditional, beautiful selection of Greek and Cypriot recipes. There are plenty of meze, or small plates, to choose from, including shrimp santorini sautéed in feta and ouzo, as well as koupes, a traditional Cypriot pork dumpling. And, there are plenty of vegetarian options, though carnivores might consider sampling less common meats such as rooster and rabbit. As you might expect from a restaurant named after the Greek God of winemaking, there's also a robust wine list made up exclusively of Greek vintages.
