About Palm Beach Zoo & Conservation Society
Paul Dreher, the founder of the Palm Beach Zoo & Conservation Society, began his horticulture career way back in 1932 working as a landscaper for the parks department. Almost two decades later, he desired to grow a dusty plot of land into a usable park and from that, the Zoo was born. Today, they house over 500 animals over 23 acres while aiming to inspire the thousands of visitors each year to act on behalf of wildlife and nature. The Zoo itself features a wide variety of activities and amenities including the colorful lorikeet loft as well as an interactive fountain where kids can cool off on hot summer days.
- Animal Experiences: from koalas to giant aldabra tortoises, guests can get up close and personal with these magnificent creatures while learning what goes into caring for them
- Educational Programs: children and families participate in various activities throughout the park such as learning about the Florida wetlands to understanding how they can help conserve wildlife
- The Animals: permanent residents include Malayan tigers as well as jaguars, koalas, and ring-tailed lemurs
