I thought this place was way overpriced. We got the brunch buffet. No price was listed and when we got or bill it was $54 for 2 adults and 2 kids. The adult buffet was $17 and it was nothing special. There was a huge hair in the meatballs, the breakfast foods were mushy and the desserts were even store bought cookies. If this was a $10 brunch it would be worth it. I can see why there were only 15 people in the whole restaurant.

The space is visually pleasing to the eye but it's loud & crowded; the service is slow; food is pretty good but not worth the price; and the tables are small.

Waiter was super nice. The atmosphere was happy. The only downside was that it took forever to get our food - like an hour.

Since most restaurants no longer take reservations, we were unaware that Mia Cucina does. Had we known, we would have called ahead to eliminate the long wait (40+minutes) that we had, which was only irritating because there is no place to wait (the "lobby" has 1 small bench & 1 chair). The wait staff seemed a little disorganized & confused as we had to ask for additional silverware 3 times before we could eat our food (we were at a table for 4 with only 2 sets of silverware). While we were waiting there were a couple tables that sat empty (both cleared & uncleared) for several minutes (20+) while the list of customers waiting grew longer by the minute. Several people left before being seated due to the long wait and the impression that people were being seated in front of them (probably due to the reservation list). The food was good, but not anything exceptional that would set it apart from other Italian restaurants we enjoy.

We had a very poor service experience. We sat at the bar and there was only one bartender working. We were ignored for some time. Then when we ordered we watched or food cooling on the kitchen. The bartender asked several times about an appetizer we had ordered. We finally asked to have our order bagged up for takeout. No one seemed to be running the restaurant. I won't go back until management has changed.

From Our Editors

Sturdy, huge, and basking in the warmth of candles suspended overhead, the community table inside Mia Cucina's Powell outpost is an apt metaphor for the community that frequents the restaurant. At both locations, a sense of hospitality vies with the aromas of house sauces to charm those who walk through the doors. Children—who dine gratis on Mondays and Wednesdays—peruse a specialized menu with mazes and games, absorbing trivia about Italy's climate, its inventions, and the volcanoes that spew marinara sauce. Adults scan their own menu, which embraces Italian staples along with more updated plates, from chicken parmesan to pesto-rubbed mahi-mahi fillets.

When they aren't browsing the cuisine, their eyes might linger on the shelves of the floating bar, where wine bottles and glasses levitate over the counter instead of bogarting the chairs. The surrounding wall mimics gray stonework, adding a rustic cellar ambiance to the setting, though the white cloths draped over each table bespeak modern sophistication. The murmur of conversations between families, friends, and couples pervades the genial space, where Mia Cucina insists "everyone's Italian."
