White Oaks opened its doors in 1928 and became the place to be seen in almost immediately. The larder was always chock-a-block and it was presided over by master practitioners of the epicurean art . The booze was ferried in from Canada and it flowed copiously from dusk to dawn. These two necessities of the good life were further enhanced by the grand-scale wagering , and it was within this sybaritic ambiance that captains of industry, political hacks, denizens of the underworld, and sports and entertainment luminaries, mingled and rubbed congenial elbows. In short, those were clandestine, but oh so tempting times. The final truth is that today White Oaks continually strives to retain the fascinating mystique that has haunted it since it surrendered its youth some eighty years ago.
A famous Cleveland restaurant critic(we know: how can he be famous? It's Cleveland) once said White Oaks is stuck in a "Time Warp". We suppose this comment was meant to be an insult, but we take it as a compliment. To White Oaks, "Time Warp" means a high-quality dining experience that is worth paying for. Over the years, we have made many changes(like the construction of the glassed in dining room hovering above the wildlife and the Cahoon Creek), but we have not changed purchasing high-quality products, making in-house sauces and desserts, and striving for dining excellence. While other restaurants are reducing portions , making everything a la carte, eliminating or charging for bread, White Oaks continues with a customer-favorite complimentary relish tray and cottage cheese, delicious fresh baked bread from "The Ovens", and includes house salad, vegetable and twiced-baked potato with all dinners. We wish to thank each and every customer for your current and future patronage and you can be assured of our commitment to providing you with the continuation and maintaining of the high standards our customers have come to expect.
"Bon appetite," from the staff and management of White Oaks.
