Our game master was great. My kids and their friends were able to join the call, so it was quite convenient. The only issue was the game master could only do one thing at a time, when traditionally, you are able to do more in a room with lots of people at one time. Obviously, being in the escape room itself is preferred and is a lot faster, but this was still a fun experience.

Loved the virtual experience. Virtual would be a great team building activity more so than in person. In the virtual experience you must work together to direct the game player on where to go vs in person where everyone is exploring the room on their own. I wish we had set up a separate zoom meeting for after the experience, once the game is over you log off an go your own way. Recommend setting up a separate zoom or other social site to revel in the experience and share a virtual happy hour :)

I absolutely love the host. She is the reason I decided to come back for a second time. She gets in complete character and sticks to it. This made the game more fun

I like the concept, but it was just too hard to navigate a normal escape room with only 1 person doing all the looking and actions. They need to simplify the experience for virtual.

We can't say enough good things about our virtual experience with the wonderful woman at Speakeasy Escape Room. We were looking for something outside-the-box with the COVID-19 pandemic going on, and thought this was promising. We had 2 groups of 2 people in our group, and though they allowed up to 6, I think 4 was a good number for us. The exception would be, in my opinion, if you have more people per Zoom account--essentially, up to 2 Zoom accounts is a nice number without getting too messy. As it relates specifically to this company, we honestly didn't know what to expect. Our group has done escape rooms before and enjoyed them, but virtual has it's own difficulties. That's why I wanted to take a moment to write this comment--she did an amazing job as our eyes and hands. She remained in character from arrival, she improv'd magnificently (reading the players and responding accordingly, knowing what to say and do when), and we had a really good time. She didn't try to do too much or too little--just right. At the end of everything, in our discussion she asked us some follow-up questions for feedback not in the standard, "Did you guys like it?" manner, but rather trying to understand our thought process so they could better the room moving forward. I commented to her that what most impressed me during this pandemic is a business like this is built to fail, but those who really think outside of their comfort zone will make it work. This company is a testament to that. From a technical standpoint, the Zoom had very few hiccups (generally good connection), and there is a separate website you use (we used our phones, but might be worth having a separate monitor for size) for clue gathering. I think that site could use some work in function, but considering the quick turnaround and even considering that part of game play, I'll happily give them a pass because it still worked and they're clearly still processing. They are in Virginia, and we are in California. If I've learned anything from this experience, it's that moving forward, once they can reopen to a normal escape room, it might be worth still having one built for virtual considering how well they're doing. Might be a bright light that comes out of this. If you're interested in a way to have a good time with others while social distancing, this is a great option. Well done!

I have experienced both Escape Room options in Williamsburg/James City County and found Colonial to be more exciting , interesting and with much better props.

Great time! Neat place. Good hints without giving away to much.
