San Diego Mexican Restaurants

When it comes to burritos, San Diego Mexican restaurants tend to care more about taste than tradition. Case in point: the so-called “California burrito,” which replaces boring beans and rice with hefty portions of potatoes, carne asada, and guacamole. A product of San Diego’s anything-goes surf culture, this beast of a burrito can be found across the area, from El Azteca Taco Shop in La Mesa to Dos Brasas just outside of Old Town San Diego. It just goes to show that the top restaurants in San Diego aren’t always the ones with the white tablecloths. Sometimes, the (literal) meat-and-potatoes option is the best option around.

$45 Toward Dine-In Mexican Cuisine
Food was excellent and unique. Margaritas were great. Very expensive, though, even with the Groupon.
