What You'll Get
Treading water, much like using a fire extinguisher, administering CPR, and fluently speaking in grizzly bear, is a skill that can save lives. Promote life-saving savvy with today's Groupon: for $65, you get a two-week Aspire Swim School Summer Intro Class (up to a $135 value) at Aspire Kids Sports Center in Chandler.
A 32,000-square-foot multifunctional gym and recreation facility for kids of all ages, Aspire Kids nurtures half pints through two-week classes that enlighten gill-less kids in basic swimming techniques. Accomplished instructors lead kids aged 18 months–18 years in the heated indoor pool where they'll practice skills designed to bolster aquatic aptitude. Buoyant pupils will learn maneuvers such as climbing out, floating on their backs, beginner freestyle strokes, plunging for depth-dwelling rings, and evading the ocean's abundant cardboard cutouts of Family Matters characters. Backstrokers can select a session from four levels of swimming savvy: parent/child, beginning swim, intermediate swim low, and intermediate swim high. Two-week sessions start May 16 and meet Monday–Thursday with morning, afternoon, and evening hours. Parents should be sure to package tikes aged three and under in reusable swim diapers.

About Aspire Kids Sports Center
Scott Barclay, a former gymnastics champion and current coach of ASU men's gymnastics team, dreamed of opening a facility to help young kids discover gymnastics. In turn, Aspire Kids Sports Center began with recreational gymnastics for kids as young as 15 months. Through time, the organization—headed by Scott and his wife, Donna—grew to include classes for martial arts, swimming, and cheer.
At Aspire's present 32,000-square-foot facility, instructors help fledgling gymnasts traverse an 80-foot tumble track on multiple trampolines. For tykes, there's a wealth of preschool gymnastics equipment, while more advanced gymnastics teams can compete on spring competition floors. Or take advantage of the indoor heated swimming pool with movable platforms, where you can immerse yourself in year-round swimming lessons and stage performances of The Little Mermaid.
