What You'll Get
Makeup application is an art form, and as with any art form, amateur mistakes can result in the loss of an ear. Keep facial canvases safe with today's Groupon to Astute Artistry in Livonia. Choose between the following options:
- For $49, you get a brow, lash, and makeup session (up to a $115 value).
- For $1,199, you get a beginner-level professional makeup class (up to a $3,475 value).
Astute Artistry's experienced aestheticians use high-end cosmetics to bedaub facial landscapes, accentuate eyes, and train pupils to master the cosmetological arts. A roughly 90-minute lash, brow, and makeup session gives customers their choice of individually applied lashes or pre-aligned strips, as well as either thread- or tweeze-based brow depilation. Clients can choose from an arsenal of 13 different makeup brands—including Astute's private line—to help accentuate their finest facial features and conceal blemishes in the shape of Martin Van Buren.
Astute's beginner-level makeup class provides 24–30 hours of cosmetic tutelage to prepare students to work professionally in the face-decorating field. Included in-studio kits equip students for their studies, which aim to impart the skills to create bridal, couture, fantasy, natural, and smoky looks. The course lasts eight weeks, or roughly the time it takes for a tube of lipstick to grow to maturity, and includes a professional photo shoot to document each budding artist's mastery of skills, from lash application and undertones to beginning airbrushing. This Groupon includes all registration, processing, and photography fees.

About Astute Artistry
Lisa Rowe Glickoff's more than 20-year career is just as diverse as the pictures of fantasy, special effects, and beauty makeup in her portfolio. When she is not busy prepping faces for fashion, film, and high-profile events—such as dolling up celebs for the 2006 Academy Awards—the makeup-industry veteran spends time on the product side of the industry. In addition to serving as a beauty rep for brands such as Paula Dorf Cosmetics, she also has created Astute, her own line of makeup. But even with all of these accomplishments, the one that’s closest to her heart remains the founding of Astute Artistry, her makeup-training boutique and beauty studio. From within the 2,000 square foot space—decorated with modern Paris-themed decor—she teaches aspiring make-up artists how to create Hollywood-approved special effects and beauty makeup during hands-on classes that range from beginner level to advanced professional.
When not teaching others the tricks of the beauty trade, Lisa puts her aesthetician license and chic boutique to use by shaping brows with threading, enhancing eyes with lash extensions, and rejuvenating mature, teen, and dehydrated skin during facials. Lisa and her team also provide traditional makeup applications for brides and those attending special events.
Lisa is also committed to helping those in need, which is why she founded Astute Artistry II, a nonprofit makeup studio catering to women affected by skin and hair conditions, which was featured in Hour Detroit magazine.
