Backwater Fishing Adventures
Captain David Borries grew up along the Mississippi Gulf Coast, navigating the calm, salty waters in a little wooden rowboat with his dad. He loved those times so much he decided to turn fishing into his career, founding Backwater Fishing Adventures in Jacksonville, Florida. When he says backwater, he's not kidding, either; he leads small groups of fishers out into intracoastal waterways, creeks, and fishing holes on his 18-foot craft. Aside from reeling in a variety of catches, such as trout and flounder, passengers can enjoy wildlife-rich nature scenes. Manatees and dolphins frequent the waters, and egrets, ospreys, and metallic, roaring birds called "planes" wing across the skies.
