The event runs from noon to 9 p.m. both days. Hop to eight different venues in Chinatown to sample eight different 12-ounce Oktoberfest beers. Participants get discounts on pairings of liquor and food and don’t pay any covers. VIP admission also includes early check-in and a beer-braised-bratwurst lunch.
Head to Chinatown and, 363 days a year, you’ll find dim sum, Chinese restaurants, and imported wares galore. During those remaining two days, though—a fall weekend—visitors find a festival celebrating German beers: District Octoberfest. Set up like a bar crawl, the fest features visitors perusing eight of the neighborhood’s bars such as RFD and Jackpot, and enjoying a free 12-ounce Oktoberfest beer at each one. The convivial Bavarian atmosphere also serves a good cause: a portion of the proceeds go to local charities.
