What You'll Get
The traditional method for preparing sushi requires slices of raw fish to be held over unlit fires in order to secure that signature “uncooked” flavor. Explore such innovative foodsmithing with today’s Groupon: for $12, you get $25 worth of traditional Japanese sushi and entrees at Bonsai Japanese Restaurant & Sushi Bar, located in Greensboro. This Groupon is valid for dine-in only. It is not valid toward alcohol.
Bonsai Japanese Restaurant offers up fast and fresh Japanese fare, with more than 100 menu items available for even the pickiest of palates. Fend off the rabid jaws of hunger with one of Bonsai's appetizers, such as fried pork dumplings ($4), crispy ginger shrimp wrapped in wontons ($6.95), or steamed soybeans ($3). Sushi adorers can express love through lunching with the tuna-rolled tekka maki ($4) or the Winston-Salem roll ($6.50), featuring smoked salmon, crab, cucumber, cream cheese, and a population density of 1,706.7 people per square mile. Fried or steamed rice, sweet carrots, and a shrimp, ginger, or mustard sauce accompany entrees, which are offered in hibachi and teriyaki styles and include steak, pork, scallops, chicken, and flounder options. Enjoy Japanese eats without again having to hitchhike to Osaka with a meal at Bonsai Japanese Restaurant.
- Bonsai is a welcome addition to Greensboro's restaurant line-up. They offer fast, healthy, and delicious food in a comfortable atmosphere. Dress up or dress down; sit at a booth, in comfy leather chairs, or at the sushi bar. – Kay Sharpe, Associated Content
- This place has a great interior and wonderful serving staff. I ate my first veggie sushi over here. It tasted great and its presentation was great too. The cook/chef who brought it out to serve us also explained what all was in the sushi in great detail when I asked him. – Kaushal M., Yelp

About Bonsai Japanese Restaurant & Sushi Bar
Working behind the sushi bar at Bonsai Japanese Restaurant & Sushi Bar, the team of sushi chefs wraps up and arranges more than 100 types of flavorful opuses. Volcano rolls mimic a blooming flower, decorated with spirals of sauce and petals of ginger garnishes, whereas sushi and sashimi combinations adorn the tiny tiers of wooden boats. The components of the pieces are just as inventive as their presentation. For example, the Tornado roll—one of 29 maki specialties—cocoons spicy tuna, cream cheese, jalapeños, and pineapple inside a tempura shell.
The kitchen's hibachi chefs, on the other hand, appreciate the aesthetic of well-seared meat. They grill salmon, steak, scallops, and chicken as part of made-to-order, multi-course entrees, all of which arrive with ginger or mustard sauce, meant for spilling on shirts. The traditional Japanese meals match the spirit of the surrounding decor: colorful parasols, pictures, and even fabric kimonos hang from the walls, and paper lanterns cast a cozy glow over tabletops.
