Love the patio overlooking the strip! Great place to people watch. Food is delicious. We got a couple drinks and the appetizer sampler. Perfect amount of food for two hungry people. We got a seat quickly and our waitress was great.

What You'll Get

A good Tex-Mex restaurant isn't just the perfect place to practice close-up magic on unsuspecting patrons—it's also a great spot to meet friends and share Burton Gilliam gossip. Start your tongue wagging with today's Groupon: for $15, you get $30 worth of Tex-Mex fare and drinks at Cabo Wabo Cantina at Miracle Mile Shops inside Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino on the Strip.

Founded by Sammy Hagar of Van Halen fame, Cabo Wabo Cantina fills hungry tummies with a menu brimming with specialties and a vast collection of premium tequilas, all within earshot of the Las Vegas Strip. Appetites are whetted with toothsome appetizers such as guacamole ($9) or Cadillac nachos, served with picadillo ($11) or fajita-style chicken or beef ($13) and fully kitted out with bouncing hydraulic toppings. Hunger fully piqued, diners can tear into house specialties such as the bacon-wrapped shrimp ($20) featuring six plump crustaceans cozily encased in pork and stuffed with fresh jalapeños and monterey jack cheese. The half-pound Wabo burger ($14), served with fries, offers enough beef to send even the most hardened patty swiller into paroxysms of bovine-induced bliss.

More than 60 varieties of tequila, including Hagar's own Cabo Wabo brand, provide fitting accompaniment to the tongue-smacking fare. Slam a shot the traditional way, with tequila, salt, lime, and a wrestling mat, or sift through its nuanced flavor notes when coupled with a fruity mélange in a Waborita, the house margarita. The two-story cantina boasts lofty views of spectacular Las Vegas landmarks, including the famed Bellagio fountains and the lesser known—but arguably more utile Venetian blinds.

TripAdvisors give Cabo Wabo Cantina an average of three owl eyes, and more than 90 Yelpers give it a 2.5-star average. Although reviews for the food are mixed, many patrons enjoy the atmosphere and location.

  • The atmosphere was great, a really nice buzz and cool music playing. We sat outside with a great view of the Strip. The service was brilliant, our waitress looked after us and made us feel really welcome – Ben_Suffolk_2010, TripAdvisor
  • If you like Tex- Mex food, Sammy Hagar/classic rock blasting and a unpretentious atmosphere, a patio to people watch (and watch the Bellagio fountains) this might be a place for you. - Jade W., Yelp, 7/13/10

About Cabo Wabo Cantina

Inside Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino lies a tiny stretch of Mexican paradise called Cabo Wabo Cantina. The restaurant, which was introduced to Vegas by legendary rocker Sammy Hagar, blends the beachy lifestyle of Cabo San Lucas with the all-night attitude of the Vegas Strip. Here, guests can bask in the views of the Bellagio Fountain and the Eiffel Tower replica from the patio as they dine on Mexican-fusion favorites concocted by Chef Tacho Kneeland.

His food spotlights an array of traditional Mexican flavors with an unexpected twist. Cilantro-dusted chicken breast pairs with jalapeño-infused ranch, and the tequila shrimp entree is served with a bed of Mexican dirty rice. The drink menu is just as inventive, with bartenders shaking up margaritas made with coconut milk, mango, and even freshly minced cucumbers. They also serve an impressive array of tequilas, which adds as much excitement to an evening as that friend of yours who owns all the board games.
