Accomplished photographers teach technical & creative techniques & complete control over camera settings in hands-on course & excursion
Digital cameras have allowed photographers to spend less time in dark rooms and more time gluing cotton-ball wigs and googly eyes onto old film canisters. Create art in the digital age with today’s Groupon: for $59, you get a digital-photography workshop package from Capturing True Emotion (a $450 total value). This Groupon is valid for workshops and expeditions on Friday, January 27, and Saturday, February 11. The package includes:
- The four-hour Ultimate Camera Experience digital-photography workshop (a $250 value)
- The two-hour Ultimate Camera Expedition (a $200 value)<p>
Each workshop takes place from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Museum of Flight. Photo expeditions last from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.; customers may choose to take part in the expedition on a different day than their workshop.
Capturing True Emotion is driven by a dynamic band of instructors, including this series’ gurus—Val Westover, an educator, author, and expert portrait artist—and one of Val’s former students, Stephanie Adriana, who has launched her own award-winning photography career. By fusing their narrative, tech-savvy minds together into one oversize head, the educators provide comprehensive guidance on both camera operation and creative visualization, giving participants complete control over all of their digital-camera settings. During the four hours spent in the company of other pupating shutterbugs, students learn strategies for controlling depth of field by adjusting the aperture, shooting an artful yeti sighting in any light, composing a family portrait so there’s not always a burning zeppelin in the background, using alternative angles to avoid red eye, and other techniques. After the morning workshop, students put their new shutter-speed savvy to good use under the tutelage of their former instructors during a two-hour photo expedition. Students can register here.
