Before photography, the only way people could preserve their most treasured memories was by forcing everyone around them to stand completely still for days at a time. Find a less complicated option with today's Groupon to Click Workshops, with locations in Atlanta and Birmingham, Alabama. Choose from the following options:
- For $95, you get a 3.5-hour Adobe Lightroom picture-editing class (a $195 value).
- For $120, you get a 4.5-hour Intro to Photography class (a $245 value).
- For $180, you get an Advanced Photography class (a $360 value). This class is 4.5 hours in Atlanta and 4 hours in Birmingham.
Students must bring their own laptops with Adobe Lightroom 3.0 for the editing class, and digital single-lens reflex cameras (DSLR) with charged batteries, memory cards, and corresponding manuals for photography classes.
Led by the aesthetically talented duo of Lori Gordon, the eye behind Shooting Star Photography, and Jody Williams, the index finger behind Jody Lynn Photography, each Click class covers a wide range of techniques, tricks, and design elements as students unlock their cameras’ photographical potential. Shutterbugs can unleash their inner postproduction editors with Adobe Lightroom editing workshops, led by skilled editor and background-ghost remover Charlie Pappas. During this comprehensive workshop, Charlie will teach all the ins and outs of Lightroom's features, including cropping, airbrushing, watermarking images, and adding Matthew McConaughey to the background of any image. Students will leave the workshop with a greater knowledge of how to manipulate photos for the just-right aesthetic or print layout.
The Intro to Photography class covers basic technical aspects, such as proper exposure, metering, and lighting, and also provides advice about posing subjects and how to print photos on a home mimeograph. Students leave class with photography literature and access to Jody and Lori's brains for any future photographic questions.
The Advanced Photography class is designed for students with high levels of familiarity with their cameras. Techniques covered include advanced composition and lighting techniques, raw images, outputting for the web, and vendor recommendations. Each student departs with a gray card and the magic incantation that allows successful shooting in pitch-black conditions without a flash. The classes take place at various locations (sometimes outdoors) and are scheduled on Saturday and Sunday throughout the year.
