What You'll Get
The first European explorers set sail with hopes of finding new, exotic spices to placate the palates of epicurious monarchs, but all they found were heaps of boring, inedible gold. Pick up where they left off by broadening your mouth's horizons with today's Groupon: for $12, you get $25 worth of Thai fare and drinks at Coconut Bay Bar & Grill in Rowland Heights.
Coconut Bay's extensive menu features authentic Thai food fashioned from fresh ingredients. Starters include the mouth-melting chicken or pork satay, served with peanut sauce and cucumber relish ($7.50), as well as deep-fried tofu and crushed peanuts gently bathing in sweet-and-sour sauce ($5.25). Noodle-based pad see ew, served with your choice of chicken, beef, or pork ($7.50, $1 extra for shrimp), and fried rice with fried chicken, sausages, and fried egg ($7.95) confidently saunter past the velvet rope of your mouth club. Meanwhile, seafood special offerings include succulent snow crab with yellow curry, eggs, and Chinese celery ($18.95). Thirsty throats can be quenched with unlimited Thai iced tea ($2.49).
Wide open and spacious, Coconut Bay's interior features flat-screen TVs, a full bar, and a private pool-table room. The restaurant stays open until 2 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays to cater to the late-night crowd and firefighters.
