What You'll Get
In a world without clothing, nude beaches would be the norm, and hugs would be illegal. Put on stylish barriers with today's Groupon: for $10, you get $20 worth of vintage and modern recycled clothing at Collective Clothing in the St. Elmo neighborhood.
Collective Clothing's intrepid owners Travis and Sondra Aten travel the Midwest in search of vintage items to pair with resale pieces for a diverse collection of T-shirts, coats, and women's wear that echoes every modern era. The boutique's brood of sparkly logo T-shirts (about $8) complement shiny owl jewelry (about $7) or leopard-print scarves. Don well-worn pairs of used cowboy boots ($40+) or rotating looks by brands such as 7 For All Mankind, Free People, LaCoste, Penguin, and American Apparel. At the shop's $5-or-less show space, regal marblesque busts of famous composers, including Wagner and Liszt, await strong arms to cart them home to a mantel or the neighbor's bedroom closet.
