Taste buds can easily turn into viciously passive-aggressive taste frenemies without proper attention. Keep your tongue from gossiping behind your back with today's Groupon: for $10, you get $20 worth of sandwiches, salads, and soups at Colonial Springs Restaurant, located inside the Colonial Springs Golf Club in East Farmingdale. Colonial Springs Restaurant is open Tuesday–Friday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

With an outdoor patio that looks out onto a picturesque 11-acre lake nestled amid the rolling hills of the golf course, Colonial Springs Restaurant eye-massages guests as they pick a weekday luncheon from the menu of hallowed lunchtime vittles. The wing sampler puts a multiple-personality spin on a timeless app by adding barbecue-chipotle and thai-peanut-sauce flavors ($13.50). Light appetites that are tired of the squeaky voices and accidental balloonism of all-helium diets can nibble instead on a combo half-order of the Tuscan panini filled with grilled chicken, roasted peppers, and pesto aioli ($6.25) or delve into the sesame-crusted ahi-tuna salad ($15). Oversized novelty hungers will prefer the jumbo-shrimp scampi sautéed in white wine, garlic, and lemon ($18) or the 12-ounce new york sirloin steak ($21).

Colonial Springs' chandeliered dining room is lined with double doors that flood the green carpets with natural light and unnaturally low-flying cumulus clouds. The striped green-and-white awning shades al fresco fans from the sun's constant criticism.

Great place to relax and enjoy an outdoor lunch
Marc W. · August 19, 2012
The waitstaff is phenomenol as they are always willing to work with the brief amount of time I am able to be there for my lunch break. The grounds are beautiful, especially during the summer when you can sit outside. Food there is varied and delicious with amazing soup choices each day.
