As part of the CrossFit movement, CrossFit Smithtown challenges its members with intense workouts that combine strength training, cardio, and gymnastics. Each class begins with a group warmup, followed by a WOD (Workout of the Day), which may involve burpees, lunges, and push-ups. In order to prevent boredom, the workout changes every day, but each one is designed to build discipline.
And though the routines are meant to be intense, they are also scalable, meaning that beginners and advanced pupils can work out side by side in the same class. This sort of diversity is common, as the propelling force behind all classes is a strong sense of community. To ensure beginners are ready for a class, their membership to CrossFit Smithtown begins with two free weeks of CrossFit Fundamentals, which acclimates them to CrossFit's unique challenges and teaches safety principles.
