Despite the many New York City CrossFit gyms and other local fitness centers, since New Yorkers live in the nation’s most walkable town, they couldn’t be blamed for skipping the gym at the end of a long commute. But it appears that most don’t: hundreds of local gyms teem with members working hard to get fit. NY Sports Club, for example, has more than 160 locations to its name. And the nearly 150-year-old facility known as New York Athletic Club has plenty of room for exercisers—it’s 24 stories tall. Members of CrossFit gyms are just as plentiful—CrossFit Queens hosts more than 60 classes per week, and CrossFit NYC runs two locations with 400 weekly classes.
