What You'll Get
Like magma and dreams, gelato is a semisolid—neither solid enough to build a house upon nor liquid enough to feed to a thirsty sparrow. Taste tantalizing viscosity with today's Groupon: for $5, you get $10 worth of authentic Italian gelato at Gelazzi Gelato Italiano Café in Highlands Ranch.
Landing on ABC 7's Ice Cream Shop A-List, Gelazzi whips up 34 varieties of gelato fresh every morning, using fresh fruits and dry ingredients carefully culled and imported from Italy. Introduce your flavor receptacles to caramel from Avellino, rich chocolate from Torino, or lemons from Aversa, available by the cup ($3.79+) or in a Belgian-waffle bowl ($6.99+). Gelazzi's fluffy frozen treats are also made using 2% fresh milk rather than cream, making it less fattening and giving the unique flavors room to dance in your mouth.
Aside from its scoopable bounty, Gelazzi is known for pioneering the gelatini, a combination of fine liqueurs and gelato more indulgent than bobbing for gold in a champagne-filled birdbath. The slushy, sippable margarita mingles lemon or lime gelato with tequila, Cointreau, and amaretto ($6.95), and the Brandy Alexander sweetens up the teeth with vanilla gelato, brandy, dark crème de cacao, and an insistence that you call him “Al” ($6.95). Customers can also get their fix with spiked coffee drinks such as the Gelazzi Javatini ($5.99) or a nonalcoholic, but equally intoxicating, gelato Italia-milkshake ($4.99-$5.99).
