Charlotte’s Web

Charlotte would be a remarkable spider, even if she weren’t also a remarkable speller. But when she befriends Wilbur, a young pig in the enclosure under her web, that second talent certainly comes in handy. Charlotte soon learns that Wilbur is scheduled to become pork chops, and so stages her own little miracle by writing messages such as “Some Pig” in the web above his pen. The farmer and the local townfolk interpret these webby words as messages from a higher power, resulting in adventure, friendship, and ultimately salvation. E.B. White’s celebrated story comes to life in Joseph Robinette’s faithful adaptation, with incidental music to set the pastoral scene.
