What You’ll Do
Nestled among the underbrush along the Sonoma Coast and West Marin lie rare, edible plants often overlooked by the uninitiated. During this autumn stroll, mushroom-foraging expert Patrick Hamilton exposes nature’s stealthy edibles, providing background information along the way. Throughout the walk, guests will learn how to locate, identify, and cook wild mushrooms and other foods.
Learn to Forage
An expert mushroom-forager teaches you how to locate, identify, and cook seasonal edibles.
Guests are asked to wear hiking boots, pants, and long sleeves, and to bring a day pack, water, and lunch.
Patrick Hamilton has served as a corporate chef, an executive chef, a catering chef, and a guest chef at festivals and fairs. Despite this variety of experiences, his expertise is quite specific: mushrooms. Years of foraging and identifying mushrooms have landed him gigs as the chef for the Mycological Society of San Francisco and as a columnist for Mushroom: the Journal of Wild Mushrooming.
