International cuisine makes it possible to experience another culture without learning a new language or stowing away in the closet of a Russian spacecraft until it launches. Cross culinary borders with today’s Groupon: for $60, you get a four-course prix fixe Peruvian dinner for two with a pitcher of sangria at Between Peruvian Cafe & Lounge (up to a $128 value). The dinner includes:

  • Quinoa chicken salad or anticuchos de corazon (up to an $18 value)
  • Ceviche classico or pulpo causa (up to a $28 value)
  • Arroz con pato or corderito de los andes (up to a $34 value)
  • Quinoa algarrobina flan or french toast sabores al picaron (a $12 value)
  • Pitcher of purple-corn sangria (a $36 value)<p>

Between Peruvian’s executive chef Jose Victorio captures the essence of his Peruvian homeland with traditional dishes that deliver authentic flavors. A choice of quinoa-breaded chicken salad or anticuchos de corazon, grilled skewers of succulent veal heart, kick off the culinary journey, followed by the much-touted ceviche classico or the pulpo causa’s grilled baby octopus and crushed peruvian potatoes. Revel in the savory flavors of the arroz con pato’s duck-leg confit and North Peruvian rice or the corderito de los andes, four micro lamb chops alongside bacon potatoes and huacatay-ocopa sauce. A final choice between algarrobina flan with organic quinoa and french toast topped in vanilla ice cream and picarones honey proves more difficult than acing an advanced calculus exam as a first-grader.

Inside the eatery, serpentine chandeliers with globe bulbs dangle over magenta booths and flower topped tables illuminated by candlelight. Private couches and tables cordoned off by diaphanous red drapes afford lovers the opportunity to discretely feed each other delectable treats while maintaining eye contact for a full four minutes.

Customer Reviews

Great food, fun drinks and friendly staff! Will definitely be going back.

While it doesn't try to come across as a Peruvian restaurant in terms of decor, the food is as authentic and delicious as anything we had ever eaten in Peru itself. Seriously, the ceviche and limo saltado are off the charts. Don't even waste your time at the other Chicago area Peruvian restaurants; this is the place to find ridiculously good Peruvian food in Chicago.
