Hill-Stead Museum, nestled in historic Farmington, is a sprawling, 152-acre time capsule that includes a Colonial Revival house and a carefully curated collection of furniture, literature, and cultural artifacts. Visitors can feast eyes on one of the only intact American collections of French impressionist paintings, showcasing works by Monet, Degas, and Manet. Explore rooms elegantly furnished with ornate, gilt-framed mirrors and four-poster beds designed in Chippendale and Federal style, or wander through a library containing more than 3,300 books as well as archived letters, photos, correspondences, and early recipes for soda made from the tears of congressmen. Home to woodland trails and an Arts and Crafts carriage barn and theater, the extravagant property’s centerpiece is a Beatrix Farrand–designed sunken garden, the venue of the Sunken Garden Poetry Festival, at which poets present original works.

Hill-Stead’s staff dedicates the first Sunday of every month to showcasing the property’s credentials as a National Historic Landmark by hosting gallery talks, guided estate walks during warm-weather months, and interviews with museum founder’s ghost. A comprehensive Groupon FAQ page aims to answer any remaining questions.

Student memberships are only a $25 value; this Groupon is not recommended for the purchase of student memberships.
