A bar, like the beach, is a relaxing oasis that allows tired travelers to bask in golden hues, frolic in frothy spumes, and get in splash fights with strangers. Savor liquid fun with today’s Groupon: for $10, you get $20 worth of rare bourbon, craft beer, and more at Idle Hands Bar.

With more than 80 bourbons, more than 40 whiskeys and ryes, and an over 45 member ensemble cast of craft beers from around the world, Idle Hands Bar cascades with haute hooch and gourmet grog. Sip on Bernheim whiskey or sample rare bourbon, including the 23-year-old Pappy Van Winkle family reserve, which is old enough to remember where it was when the earth adopted the moon. An arsenal of artisan ales and lagers flow into glasses from microbreweries such as Ommegang, Two Brothers, and Speakeasy. Nurse a bottle of Full Sail Session premium lager ($3), or opt to adopt a bottle of barrel aged Innis & Gunn ($9). Guests can also wet whistles on favored, featured flavorful beers; previous selections have included the aromatic Ballast Point Calico amber ale and the malty Harpoon Munich dark ($7 each for 16 oz. draft). Slide onto a black leather banquette and raise a glass to this rock 'n' roll–styled subterranean speakeasy steeped in sepia and wallpapered with silkscreen concert posters and discarded lyrics from Bob Dylan's Pig Latin phase.

Idle Hands Bar has been featured by NBC New York, Thrillist, and UrbanDaddy. Twenty-two Yelpers give Idle Hands Bar an average of four-stars, and over 1,890 Facebookers are fans.

  • When it comes to partying, everyone knows that the three B's are king: beer, bourbon, and brock n' roll! Proving it to good times infidels: Idle Hands.Set up by a trio of music/entertainment vets in the subterranean hole that used to house the Warhol hang Save The Robots, Idle plays the part: concrete floors, black leather banquette lined walls, a stool/bench-strewn stage area, scattered rock/metal/punk concert posters, and a heady list of craft brews and hooch, so you can get rocked by a hurricane while listening to it. Fueling classic 'tails from Old Fashioneds to Sazeracs, the house specialty's the brown, with a collection of 30 whiskeys & ryes that's dwarfed by 70+ bourbons – Thrillist
  • Cool place. GREAT bourbon menu. Great knowledgable staff. Very solid beer menu. – Dan R., Yelp, 10/11/10

Idle Hands Bar

Idle Hands is a curious name for a bar, especially one in which hands always seem to be busy lifting shot glasses and pints of craft beer. The flurry of activity is understandable—the bar pours out an extensive selection of bourbons, whiskeys, ryes, and scotch, alongside craft beers available by the tap, bottle, or can. Should guests require additional occupation, a menu entertains eyes and mouths with classic wings, toasty panini, and house-made burgers. Evening events, such as beer and bourbon tastings and live DJ sets, ensure patrons win the Idle Hands trifecta of "Bourbon. Beer. Rock."
