$45 for a Two-Hour SLR/DSLR Photography Class or Photo Walk ($100 value)
Seasoned photographers demystify the intricacies of snapping digital pictures during two-hour SLR/DSLR classes, most of which incorporate lecture, Q&A, and hands-on practice. The What The….? class schools beginning shutterbugs on navigating their cameras' buttons and basic functions, and the Let There Be Light! class focuses on using camera flash, hot-shoe flash, and piles of burning phone books to generate the proper lighting for each shot. Don't Box Me In! introduces students to creative composition.
Alternatively, two-hour photo walks take students out of the classroom to practice photography skills in some of downtown Kansas City's most photogenic enclaves. No more than 10 students gather at one of five locations, such as the River Market neighborhood, Kauffman Memorial Garden, or the Power & Light District. The teacher will review basic camera functions and settings for 15–20 minutes, and then offer ongoing critique and guidance as students frame and snap pictures. Class dates, times, and locations are subject to change, so check the blog portion of Jason Domingues Photography's website often to find an ideal class. Most sessions are solidified about one month beforehand.

About Jason Domingues Photography
A woman in a gown runs through a fountain. A little girl wearing Mickey Mouse ears watches an airplane as it rolls up to the gate. The footprints of newlyweds mark a red carpet. The images that photographer Jason Domingues captures aren't always expected. In fact, Domingues seeks out unpredictable angles and hones in on surprising details while snapping shots for weddings, family portraits, engagement sessions, and senior pictures. The memory preservation specialist has been featured in the New York Times for his innovative approach to photography and was named a Fear Less Photographer––1 of about 900 photographers nationwide who create artful, sometimes avant-garde wedding portraits.
Unlike many professional artists, Domingues loves to share his secrets, hosting classes for shutterbugs of all skill levels to learn how to effectively use cameras to generate awe-inspiring photos of landscapes and politicians checking their mail. His in-class lectures acquaint beginners to basic concepts, he also takes more advanced students to the city streets and provides ongoing critique and tips while watching them frame shots.
