Designed for users of either digital or film cameras, this combination safari and photography class is led by accomplished portraitist and freelance photojournalist Jimmy Loyd. The zoo's menagerie of tigers, giraffes, chimps, and parrots struts its stuff down the ape-, bird-, and catwalk as students spend their morning snapping glamour shots. All-day zoo admission is included in this deal, so attendees may while away the afternoon trying out new techniques on the furry fashion models. No matter the age group, the class offers general image-capture tips about composition, manual settings, and choice of lenses, as well as specialized lessons on capturing wildlife, shooting pictures through fences, and creating a story through photos.

About Jimmy Loyd Photography
Over his 25-year career in snapshottery, Jimmy Loyd has accumulated an impressive list of skills as freelance photojournalist for the Houston Chronicle, portraitist, and studio owner. An early adapter to the digital-camera revolution, he can capture digital or analog family portraits, professional headshots, and in-the-moment sports images with ease. Loyd also employs his expertise in intermittently scheduled classes and photo tours, which might occur on-location at the Houston Zoo or, for more candid shots, out in the wilderness where animals don't have access to stylists.
