I used the Sylvan Groupon to get my daughter assessed and 4 hours of tutor time. The assessment went ok, my daughter thought it was very easy. My daughter said that the tutor was distracted with her cell phone most of the time. Gave her the wrong lesson to do the iPad and gave little instruction. I will not be paying $40 an hour for Sylvan's cell phone distracted tutors. She can practice multiplication on her own tablet at home.
Overall the experience was okay. Had to have to meeting before my daughter was able to get her lessons and I could do them in hour blocks only in 2 hour blocks. Pricing after the Groupon is really expensive, average close or more to $50 per hour. My daughter loved the experience but too much money.
I absolutely love the teachers at Sylvan! They are wonderful, caring people who help so much. My granddaughter has been going for a little over six months and she loves it. She is doing much better in school and that makes her very happy.

About Sylvan Learning
The staff members at Sylvan Learning's numerous study facilities understand that each child learns differently. Therefore, they don’t try to implement a uniform tutoring system; instead, they design custom lesson programs based on the results of standardized testing, diagnostic tools, and one-on-one interviews.
Tutors work with students from kindergarten through grade 12, illuminating topics ranging from basic reading and writing to remembering complex algebraic formulas without having them tattooed on your chest. Many of Sylvan’s instructors work in local schools, so they are intimately familiar with common curricula and understand how to gear lessons toward optimal results. After-school and summer classes can ready high-schoolers for the rigors of the ACT or the SAT, or they can help students to wow college-admissions officers with their superior essay-writing skills.
