What You'll Get
Fine dining was originally the province of royalty, who ate their appetizers with 10-foot forks manipulated by teams of beleaguered bellhops. Lose the man-sized flatware with today's deal: for $30, you get $60 of Louisiana-inspired elegant eating at Kozlak's Royal Oak Restaurant, located in Shoreview.
The menus provide Southern seafood influences and regal ingredients to anyone dining in Kozlak's elegant cabin of comestibles. Try a blackened order of Cajun bites (charred tenderloin tips with Cajun horseradish sauce, $10.95) for an appetizer, or lightly darn the torpedoes and plow ahead with a steamy order of sautéed sea scallops with lemon and asparagus served over basmati rice ($23.95). Alternatively, take the meat bridge to a sizzlingly tantalizing slab of boneless roast prime rib (au jus, $28.98; king cut, $38). For a less gravitas-filled meal, try a hash-brown-encrusted walleye sandwich, broiled and topped with tartar sauce and served on ciabatta with fresh vegetables ($16.95), or Parmesan chicken breast with hollandaise served with vegetables and potato ($20.95). Don't neglect Kozlak's specialty desserts, made fresh in the kitchen on a daily basis. Ask your server for the current selection of sweet delectables and pricing.
Kozlak's Royal dining atmosphere features pure-white table linens, excellent views in the wood-accented dining rooms, and the airy scenery of the garden patio. The restaurant's windows even pair excellently with the silhouette of a dinner patron holding a glass of wine from Kozlak's extensive wine list. Relax with your dinner companion and strike a backlit pose with a glass of "Late Harvest" Hogue Riesling ($5.95), then engage in a full night of adventure by clambering to the top of a mighty oak tree in order to secretly gobble up a bag of leftovers.

About Kozlak's Royal Oak Restaurant
Restaurant establishment is a Kozlak family tradition. Back in 1943, Joseph and Gertrude Kozlak purchased what would eventually become the well-known Jax Café. In 1977, their son Jax Kozlak and family embarked on a massive restoration project to beautify and expand a new large space that would become Kozlak's Royal Oak Restaurant, which has since been voted Best Ambiance, Best Service, and Neighborhood Gem by OpenTable diners.
Well known for its steaks, Kozlak's serves top-shelf cuts such as bone-in tenderloin, roasted prime rib, and tenderloin filet crowned with add-ons of rich blue cheese, Cajun spices, or fresh sauteed mushrooms. Single tails of steamed African lobster recline on plates with drawn butter, and Australian sea bass receives a stuffing of spinach and crab before being topped with a butter-tarragon sauce. Kozlak's Royal Oak Restaurant boasts a screened-in patio with a canopy.
