La Notte Cafe's owner and chef Giovanni Matteo Mancini fills an extensive menu with traditional Italian dishes inspired by childhood days spent in the kitchen of his grandfather's trattoria in Bari, Italy. Guests begin tableside tours of old country fare by splitting starters of goat-cheese marinara or wolfing down spoonfuls of creamy polenta blended with sausage and peas, mopping up drips with a passport now deemed unnecessary to taste traditional Italian cuisine. The second course introduces taste buds to more than a dozen pasta dishes, such as homemade eight-finger cavatelli drizzled in garlic and oil, or the shrimp fra diavolo, which saturates linguine noodles with peppers, olives, and capers. The vitello saltimbocca nestles tender veal cutlets beneath layers of prosciutto and mozzarella, unveiling flavor after flavor like a tootsie pop hidden inside a chocolate easter bunny. A selection of red and white wines accompanies dinners, with merlots and chiantis hailing from Tuscany alongside chardonnays and sauvignon blancs from South America.

La Notte Cafe pairs sidewalk alfresco seating with a welcoming dining room trimmed with a tiled floor, sea-foam-green walls, and Italian-inspired art. White linen tops tables, and flickering tea lights foster a romantic ambiance by chirping Sinatra hits whenever diners clink glasses.
