Instructors guide horseback riders to blue-ribbon glory with private lessons in English, Western or Australian disciplines

Horseback riding replaced horsefront riding during the War of 1812, when American soldiers realized they couldn't be taken seriously while being carried in adult-size baby slings. Giddy-up like a grownup with today's Groupon to Labzara Ranch in Broken Arrow. Choose between the following options:

  • For $18, you get a one-hour private horseback-riding lesson (a $36 value).
  • For $45, you get a one-hour horseback-riding birthday party with two horses (a $90 value).

Labzara Ranch's headmasters, who have more than four decades of experience, match human with horse before edifying riders with the proper techniques for attaining blue-ribbon glory. During one-hour private lessons, pupils aged 3 and older mount trusty stallions and learn how to trot, prance, and Charleston in the English, Western, or Australian style of riding. Alternatively, Labzara Ranch's birthday packages saddle up two trained steeds that party guests can take turns riding. Following the rides, visitors can take 30-minutes to serve birthday cake, exchange presents, and listen to "Happy Birthday" serenades from a barbershop quartet of horses.

About Labzara Ranch

Labzara Ranch’s headmaster, Roseann Lobser, has been a riding instructor for more than 40 years, imparting the finer points of equestrian operation to students both young and old. Under Roseann’s watchful eye, students learn the proper form of riding in the Australian style; English style, which requires that riders keep both hands on the reins; or Western style, which uses only one hand so the other is free to prospect for gold. Also a certified art teacher, her summer camps invite kids 5 years old and up to meet the ranch's ten horses; ride them in parades; and work on painting, pottery, and other art projects once the day gets too hot for riding. The ranch also offers horse riding birthday parties for kids which includes an hour of riding, horse feeding, games, and a party space.
