Candy necklaces and ring pops look great, but many prefer the nuanced mouthfeel and clean finish of precious gems and metals. Show off sophisticated taste with today's Groupon: for $35, you get $70 worth of jewelry and more at Lori McLean's store in the West Village.
A self-taught jeweler and metalsmith, Lori McLean has seen her work displayed on many bedecked bodies and in The Museum of Modern Art. Her Manhattan store showcases more than 25 handmade jewelry lines and a collection of vintage pieces. Gussy up lobes with a pair of elegant blue-chalcedony-and-pyrite earrings ($213) or enhance head pedestals with the mini love necklace, a 14-karat vermeil pendant spelling out what all anybody needs and dangling delicately from a sterling-silver chain ($58). The Morning Glory stud earrings, handmade in Massachusetts, leave ears feeling more loved than a heavily squeezed Cabbage Patch doll from 1988 ($50). McLean's bedecking boutique also carries other tendon-trapper trimmings and nonwearable objects, such as Laura Zindel’s white earthenware pitchers and plates ($165–$268).
